Meet-the-Artists event at Morlan, Aberystwyth

We held a very busy and successful Meet-the-Artist yesterday morning at our new "Affordable Art" exhibition in the Morlan Centre, Aberystwyth. Over £100 was raised for our partner charity Dosbarth Pili Pala, by Steph and her daughter-in-law Michelle. It was also good to see our local MP Mark Williams and two of his daughters, who popped in for a while.

From the Cambrian News

During a quiet spell Dot took a break from curating duties, and took the photos below.

Do come and see the exhibition if you can.
It is held at the Morlan Centre, Queens Road, Aberystwyth.
Open Mon – Fri, 10 am – 12 noon and 2 pm – 4 pm
and at other times when there are other events at the Centre.
The last day is 19 Dec.
If you want to buy a painting you don't have to wait until the end of the show:
you can take it away with you.

Our new exhibition at Wyeside, Builth Wells

A wonderful late-summer evening for the opening of our new show at the Wyeside Gallery, Builth Wells. It is a lovely space, and we received a very warm welcome from the staff. The show was beautifully hung by Will Adams.

The photos below, from Dot, give you an idea of the hang and the opening. You can see images of the paintings on show, and a few more, on the Gallery website here. You can also use this link to find the opening hours (mostly evenings midweek, and afternoons at weekends.) The exhibition is open until 31 October.

Gordon wins major prize

Congratulations to Picturemakers member Gordon Miles, who has won 1st prize in the Tabernacl Open Competition this year. The subject was "Gardens".

A very happy Gordon beside his prize-winning painting. Gordon is also a professional picture-framer, and chose the frame to echo the garden conservatory in the work.

Gordon was presented with his prize by jurist Angela Drinkwater-Lunn on Sat 14 July, 2013 at MOMA Machynlleth.
